| Project: Bute Park Restoration | | Applicant: The County council of the City and County of Cardiff | | Programme: Parks | | Location: Cardiff, South Glamorgan | | Region: Wales | | Amount awarded: £3,123,000 | | | | Description: The grant will support the restoration and interpretation of important features within Cardiff's Bute Park, including: the Animal Wall and other boundary walls, West Lodge, Castle Moat and Blackfriars Priory, restoration of beds, planting and footpaths, restoration of the water course around the castle, improved interpretation and visitor facilities and establishment of an on site horticultural training programme. Work will start during 2009 and will be complemented by the creation of opporunities for the public to get involved in and learn about the heritage of the Park. The grant is not funding the proposed new bridge. |
